About This Activity

This captivating excursion offers a perfect blend of cultural landmarks and natural wonders. Departing from Kotor, you'll cruise along the bay's serene waters, visiting iconic sites such as the man-made island of Our Lady of the Rocks, the historic Mamula Island, the intriguing Submarine Tunnel, and the enchanting Blue Cave. Each stop provides a unique glimpse into Montenegro's rich heritage and breathtaking landscapes.

Your adventure begins with a visit to Our Lady of the Rocks, an artificial island adorned with a 17th-century church. According to legend, local seamen discovered an image of the Madonna and Child on a rock in the sea in 1452. In gratitude for safe voyages, they began placing stones at the site, eventually creating the island. Today, visitors can explore the church's exquisite interior, featuring intricate frescoes and a museum showcasing maritime artifacts.

As the boat glides towards the Adriatic, you'll encounter Mamula Island, dominated by a 19th-century fortress built by the Austro-Hungarian general Lazar Mamula. Historically used as a prison during both World Wars, the island now stands as a hauntingly beautiful relic of the past. While the tour offers a panoramic view of the fortress, its imposing structure and storied history make it a highlight of the journey.
Next, the tour ventures into one of the three submarine tunnels carved into the Lustica Peninsula. Constructed during the Yugoslav era, these hidden passages were designed to conceal and protect submarines and smaller naval vessels. Navigating through the tunnel's shadowy interior offers a tangible connection to Montenegro's military history and a sense of the strategic importance of the Bay of Kotor.

The journey culminates at the renowned Blue Cave, a natural marvel where sunlight filters through an underwater entrance, illuminating the cavern in ethereal blue hues. Here, you'll have the opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters, immersing yourself in the cave's serene and otherworldly atmosphere. This unforgettable experience is often the highlight for many visitors, offering a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility.

Everything was absolutely beautiful! The Blue Cave, the tunnel, and especially the Pearl were breathtaking. We had plenty of time to swim, which made the trip even better, just remember to bring a towel.
