Our trip began with a three-hour delay, and by that time, it was already nighttime. The driver in Jordan was quite aggressive behind the wheel, though it seems that might be typical driving style there. A word of caution: avoid eating the vegetables at the restaurant where lunch is served, as they caused serious stomach issues. On a positive note, the guides were friendly and welcoming throughout. On the way back, I didn’t have any cash to buy water on the bus, but one was kindly given to me free of charge.
A fantastic and truly wonderful experience.
The day was exceptionally long, totaling twenty-six hours from start to finish, but the visit itself was undoubtedly worth the effort. Our guide in Jordan was superb, and the itinerary was perfectly designed to maximize our sightseeing. The lunch provided was also excellent. However, the Egyptian side of the operation was poorly organized. After being picked up from the hotel, we were left waiting on the roadside for an hour for a guide, who then proved to be very disorganized. The ferry terminal was chaotic, with confusing security and passport checks. Furthermore, the ferry was overcrowded with insufficient seating, and the restroom facilities were quite unpleasant. Despite these issues, the Jordanian portion of the trip was highly enjoyable and an experience I will remember forever.
This is simply the best excursion you can take from Sharm El Sheikh to Petra.
