From Sorrento: Day Trip to Capri with Blue Grotto

The excursion matched the description perfectly. We departed from the port of Sorrento at the scheduled time, and upon arriving in Capri, we switched boats to visit the Blue Grotto (the price is $18, paid just before entering, and they also suggest leaving a tip for the rowers who take you into the grotto). Afterwards, we returned to Capri, where we had a few hours of free time before the next activity, which was a tour of the other grottos. Finally, we returned to the port of Capri and then back to Sorrento.

This is a good package for visiting Capri, though there were some idle periods. Overall, I’m satisfied with the day, but I would have preferred more time on Capri itself. For clarity, here’s the timing of the day without the Blue Grotto visit: the ferry departed about half an hour after the meeting time, around 8:00. After roughly half an hour, you arrive in Capri. For those visiting the Blue Grotto, the excursion starts immediately, with lines of up to two hours for entry. Those who chose the option without the grotto go to an office near the port for a short briefing from the guide, which, while useful for understanding how to get around and buy bus or funicular tickets, I felt lasted too long. From that point, there were four hours of free time. I recommend checking the public buses beforehand as they are very convenient. At 1:00 pm, there’s a meeting for the boat tour. The organization could have been better, but overall it’s a great experience for the price.

A truly wonderful experience that we enjoyed immensely. Our guide, Michelle, was very attentive and friendly. There were very few Spaniards on the tour, and he took the time to explain the route to us and helped in every way he could. He is a very kind and approachable young man. We loved it and rate him 100/100 because he truly deserves it. The route was spectacular, and the experience was well worth it.
