About This Activity

Embark on an unforgettable journey from Marmaris to Datça, a hidden gem on Turkey’s Aegean coast. Datça offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, historical charm, and authentic Turkish culture. This full-day tour is ideal for those seeking an escape from the bustling city, offering a peaceful yet enriching experience.

Your adventure begins early with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel in Marmaris. As you travel along the picturesque coastal road, you'll be treated to stunning views of the turquoise Aegean Sea, framed by the lush, rolling hills of the Datça Peninsula. The journey itself is a visual delight, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead.

Upon arrival in Datça, you'll be welcomed by the town’s laid-back atmosphere. Renowned for its unspoiled beauty, Datça boasts pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a charming town center filled with whitewashed houses, narrow streets, and vibrant bougainvillea.

The Datça Pazarı (Datça Market), held weekly—usually on Saturdays—is a lively hub located in the town center. A favorite among both locals and tourists, the market offers a wide variety of fresh produce, handmade goods, and local delicacies.

The market is a feast for the senses, with stalls brimming with locally grown fruits and vegetables. Expect to find seasonal treasures like juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, sweet figs, and a variety of fresh herbs. Dried fruits and nuts also make perfect, healthy souvenirs.

One of the market’s highlights is its selection of local delicacies. Be sure to sample honey, a local specialty known for its unique flavor, created from the region's wildflowers. Olives and olive oil are also a must-try, and many vendors offer tastings. Don’t miss the chance to try local cheeses, breads, and pastries, all showcasing the region’s culinary traditions.

In addition to the food, Datça’s market is a great place to find handmade crafts. Look for items like traditional Turkish carpets, handcrafted jewelry, pottery, and textiles—perfect souvenirs that reflect the town’s artistic heritage. The market is also home to aromatic spices and herbs such as paprika, cumin, saffron, oregano, and thyme, which are perfect for bringing a taste of Turkey back home.

The friendly, lively atmosphere of the market is part of its charm. Vendors are often eager to share stories about their products and offer samples. It's an excellent opportunity to practice a few Turkish phrases and engage with the locals, who are known for their warm hospitality.

Our guide was John and he was really engaging sharing some cool history and stories along the way. The trip was both fun and informative. They handled the pick-up, provided food and dropped us back at the hotel. Meals were included, which was a nice bonus. Overall, it was a great deal.

The service from this company was excellent and didn’t cost much at all. The driver was friendly and easygoing. Our tour guide, John was polite and shared a lot of interesting facts about Dacha’s history and current times. All in all, it was a really nice experience.
