Explore the Stunning Bay of Kotor on a Full-Day Tour from Dubrovnik

Embark on a scenic journey from Dubrovnik to Montenegro and uncover the breathtaking beauty and rich history of the Bay of Kotor. This full-day guided tour takes you across the Croatian-Montenegrin border, where you’ll explore the charming coastal towns of Perast and Kotor. Choose to enhance your experience with an optional boat cruise, offering unparalleled views of the iconic Our Lady of the Rocks island and the stunning Montenegrin coastline.

Your adventure begins in the morning with a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle from Dubrovnik. As you head towards the border, enjoy picturesque views of the Adriatic coastline. A short stop at the border allows you time for a quick coffee break before continuing to your first destination—Perast, a hidden gem known for its well-preserved Baroque architecture and serene waterfront setting.

Upon arrival, take part in a brief 15-minute guided tour to learn about Perast’s fascinating maritime history before enjoying 45 minutes of free time to explore at your own pace. Stroll along the charming promenade, admire the town’s historic churches and palaces, or relax at a local café with stunning views of the bay.

For those opting for the boat cruise, board a reserved vessel for a scenic sail across the Bay of Kotor. Glide through the tranquil waters to reach Our Lady of the Rocks, a unique man-made island with a blue-domed church and a fascinating museum. Disembark for a guided visit and hear the local legends surrounding this sacred site.

Continue your boat journey to Kotor, passing by breathtaking coastal landscapes dotted with orange-roofed houses and towering green hills. If you choose not to take the cruise, enjoy a relaxing scenic drive along the coastline to Kotor’s historic old town.

Upon arrival in Kotor, you have the option to join a 30-minute guided walking tour or explore independently. Wander through the narrow medieval streets of this UNESCO-listed town, nestled within one of the world’s most picturesque bays. Learn about Kotor’s rich past, visit historic landmarks like St. Tryphon’s Cathedral, or take in the spectacular views from the town’s 4.5-kilometer-long city walls.

After your tour, enjoy 2.5 hours of free time to explore Kotor at your leisure. Browse local shops, savor traditional Montenegrin cuisine, or hike up to the San Giovanni Fortress for a panoramic view of the bay. Your guide will be happy to offer recommendations to make the most of your visit.

As the day comes to an end, relax on a comfortable return journey to Dubrovnik, taking in the final breathtaking views of Montenegro’s stunning coastline.

We were a large group, but the local guide in Kotor spoke as if there were only five of us. English is not my first language, and it required a lot of effort for me to follow, so I didn’t really hear or understand much. I left a little disappointed.

If you’re planning a short vacation, you should definitely include a day in Montenegro! The bus ride, boat tour, and visits to the old towns of Perast and Kotor give a great overview of the country. Be sure not to miss the boat trip—it’s a must. The stops provided enough time to explore everything. Don’t forget to bring euros, as they are the only accepted currency. Overall, a successful trip and highly recommended!

The places were stunning, with spectacular landscapes, and Kotor is truly charming. Our guide was very pleasant and funny, and I loved that he shared the necessary information without being overwhelming. Most of the time, we had freedom to explore without being grouped together like schoolchildren.
